OMK
United Milk Company (OMK) is a leading Bulgarian dairy, which produces and markets a wide range of milk and yogurt products mainly under the VEREIA and FIBELA brand names.
OMK was created from the merger of several milk processing plants in Bulgaria. After extensive restructuring, it currently operates out of a renovated production site in Plovdiv.
Since Global Finance's investment in the spring of 2003, OMK has enjoyed growth rates in excess of 30% per year for its milk and yogurt business and currently holds more than 40% of the fresh milk market and 10% of the yogurt market. OMK also exports Bugarian cheeses mainly to the ethnic markets of the US and Middle East. Its turnover in 2005 is of the order of EUR 17m.
